One day at orthodontics :)

I thought, that I show you a day at orthodontics. Than I said, the assistants' job different, than in Hungary. Our job is usually the sterilisation and we put the right place the tidy instruments.

Sterilisation

We learnt lot of new things. :) For example I can change the ellastics on the braces. Today the assistant teached me, how to make impression. I thought it is an easy thing, but it isn't. I have to put in the mixer so much dust, as so much water.

Alginat mixer

Than I have to put it to the alginat mixer. When I put the alginat to the patient's mouth, I must begin the impression at the molars, than the fronts. So I thought it is easy, because we don't have to mix the alginat, but it isn't easy. :)

How should I do it... :D

It was interesting, that I could try to make an impression, and that I can change the ellastics on the braces. When I haven't any work, I stand next to an assistant and I can see, what she does. She is nice, and se usually tell me, what se does. Sometimes she asks me to mix the glue with the machine. It's a new thing, because at home, we must to mix the glue manually, not with the machine. :)

So I have a good time here, I learnt lot of new things. :)

Amsterdam

The daily programme was surprise for us. Our teacher didn't tell us. When we heard that we go to Amsterdam we were very happy. We met on the station at half past eight. The travel was long, and we were listening to music, talking a lot and sleeping.

When we had to change the train, we missed the connection .We looked for another train. Ten girls of the group were arrived half hour later.

When we arrived, we went to the central and talked  that we will meet in the central at 20:00.
Than we met the friendly residenters.

After we went to a sight seeing in the city central, and the line shopping. We bought a lot present for our family, and saw a lot funny things.

When we became tired of shopping, we sit in the restaurant. After this we were walking and talking.

We made a lot picture, but sometimes we failed.

After the long walk Anett and Me were looking for a bit sweets, and we found:

When we met with the other girls, we walked to the Red lights district. This shocked us. After we met our teacher and the other girls in the central, went to the station. We had a rest in the train, and when we arrived in Leeuwarden we went to bed.

We meshd Holland!

Sunday again... The program was the same...do the washing up, clean everything and cooking. If I were a perfect stand up comedy star, I can write about it in a very fun way. But I'm not so I will write again a summarise of our experiences.

1. Where we were? Where are we working?
About that you can find a longer writtings on late blog posts, I only give a visual-experience for you. Let's check it here: https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=z0sKeNmBFrbA.ktdhCzvPj0ow

2. Where is Hungary?
On every internship places sooner or later we got the question 'where are we from?' Of course we answered, but in most cases it wasn't enough. Sometimes they ask back 'where is it?' but sometimes they tried to found it out... Without much succes...
Let's see it:
  • In common they think Hungary and Budapest are two different country
  • Budapest near to the sea (That one from somebody, who has been Budapest before)
  • Is it in Europe?
  • Budapest is an island next to Australia.
  • Is it Bucharest?
  • It's in the edge of Europe (-No it's not - Yes, it is.)
  • It is one of the states of America

And we got to know, Budapest's (not Hungary!) official language is english.

3. 10 Holland things
  1. Here the Thursday is the day for go out (and Friday is not)
  2. The most sweets has a same taste (We tried all tipe of Speculaas)
  3. They drink beer from a little glass insted of jar
  4. For breakfast bread with chocolate is perfect
  5. Eat sandwich with knife and fork
  6. Ride bicycles without any hands (if you have to turn of the road it isn't a problem, or if you get some new messages it's important to read it immediately next to the van, in the middle of te bridge or any other place or situation)
  7. Very big windows without curtain
  8. Dring the pudding from the bottle (called Vla)
  9. The cold, windy and rainy weather is not a reason for wearing cap, scarf, gloves, or winter coat (sweather is enough)
  10. You can find coffee everywhere and everytime (in the school, in the bank, etc..)
+1 We have no more Sunday together :(

Another experience in Drachten

Today we woked up early, because we went to Darchten.Where the students waited us. The trip was 1 hours, and we arrived to the city. Fortunately the school was near to the busstop, because we wanted to freez again.

The students offered us with coffe and tea. We accustomed to their habits quickly. And we love it so much. When we got the second coffie, we got some stroopwaffels, and we was so happy.

                                                      Hip-hip hurrays Calories!

When we started feeling the impressoin of coffie, the students started their presentation, about the history of psychology, and they talk about some interesting illnesses.

Some of the student do creative programs for us. Which helps to expressons the emotions.

First we had to use musical instruments to express the emotions which we got. And others had to figure out what the feeling.

We had to show the fear. We chooose the drum, cymbal, and an armlet with rettls, which looks like a cat collar.

The Fear

The happiness

The sadness

The nervous

After this task, we had to cut out pictures from magazines, and fixed to a papier. This project helps expresson the emotions.

                                                              We enjoyed this programme.

The programme end soon, and we went to the bus stop, we thought the bus comes, but no. We stand  three-quarter hour in this beautiful Dutch weather…

At afternoon, we cooked our meals. Because it was Friday we can eat sweets. Others went to parties.
At the beds we was so excited, because we didn’t know where we go tomorrow.

Elderly Home- Leeuwarden

The morning shift  start at 7:15 , the first thing to do is drinking coffie or tea . The work starts at 7:45. Every nurse has own clients they have a special bell if they push it the nurse's phone is ringing . Every clients has own apartments and they have modern tools. For example one client has a robohand it belongs to his wheelchair and with that hand he can eat. They use smart computers what with they can open the doors and turn of or on the lights. Here its tipical .

I usually work with a nurse who try to explain to me everything and teach me. I got to know lots of new machine and tool.  For example here is an elevator its used for movement the clients.  The most common tasks are feeding, drinking, help in showering. I saw a sonda that i have never seen  before . Thats name McKey-sonda and the condom-catheter was also new for me.

Elevetor for mobilisation

At 10 O'clock arrive the time for a break again . During that time the nurses and the students talked about the client's problems and their day .At 10:30 everybody start to go to their own clients. Tandartsenpraktijk - Burgum

The dentistry
This morning I got up 6:15 as usual and I dressed up and had my breakfast. My favourite combination Kroko Choco's and Chocolade Melk.

I went to the bus station to catch my bus. It usually comes 7:30 and I arrive to Burgum around 8o'clock.
When I arrived to my practice place I changed my dress to my blue uniform.
I was working with Grace and Anita in the morning. The most interesting treatment was the root canal treatment for me in this morning.
I saw the whole treatment on a big screen. Grace was using a microscope to see the area better.

First we took an x-ray of the tooth. After this Grace removed the temporary filling from the tooth and put on the rubber dam. Next she started to widen the root canal with an diamond fissura drill. After this she was using NaCl - she was disinfecting the root canal. Once she was using kerr file and after NaCl. She was using apex locator during the treatment. This treament was 2 hours. After this Grace used paperpoint to dry the root canal and she put temporary filling into the tooth.

In this morning I liked very much the impression. This impression needs 6 minutes to harden before we can remove it.

The impression
After the impression we had only controls. But the controls were interesting. I could help with the exhaustor.

From twelve to one we had a lunch time. I love it very much because during the lunch we always speak in english about the country. About Netherlands and Hugary.

A typical lunch - Soup, sandwich and fruit
Dentigel - We give this to the children
It makes the teeth strong
We use this to the denigel
Toys for the children
In the afternoon I was working with Marianna, and after with Robert and his assistant Jeljte!
We had a lot of patient with Marianna. She is an dentalhigienist. I love this part becuase I love polishing the teeth and this afternoon I could do this again.
Polishing the teeth
In the afternoon we had a lot of controls. 90% of people come to a control here so they don't have a lot of problems with their teeth. They usually need only calculus removing. And it is good.

Emmaplein Street number 2.

My clock was ringing at 6:20 in the morning. I always get up earlier, because I dont wan't to be late.
For my luck I get to the practice place in time everyday. :)

My clinic where i learn from Monday to Friday is only 10 minutes far away by walk. I call myself lucky because of this.

I arrive at 7:45. In the changing room when i got ready i put my ricy meat to the fridge, than i followed Reina, who is my assistant.

Our day is going by the timetable. My first step is to unpack from the sterile machine. Mirrors, tweezers , probes are put in to the right places.  After this I cover the buttons and microscope with an invisible matrice to protect them. Also its easier to sterilize them.

I prepare for the procedures. Our first patiens were coming for controll. For me its very interesting that here in Netherlands the whole family come thogether.

After the procedures i put away the instruments, put the dangerous waste in to the rubbish.
Im sad because I can't understand the patients language, as they can't mine. But sometimes it happens, that my dentist , Eugenio translate to us. Im very happy about that. :)

My day consists three breaks.
10:15-10:30  / 12:00-13:00 / 14:45-15:00

My main part of the day was  sucking salive with exhauster and helping the dentist at calculus removing.

The day has gone so fast.
I couldnt believe that only 2 more weeks left! :)
